Starfire’s looks have always been based on black women so to me it was more than obvious that a black woman should play her. As a non-black woc myself, I would have been disappointed if they had casted say a latina, asian or arab woman.
As for Raven I’m super super disappointed in the casting because to me Raven has always been coded as Indian or Southeast Asian but no hate towards the actress, the casting call was open ethnicity, she’s a 13 years old girl who auditioned for a part and got it.
